HELP BRIGHTEN SOMEONE’S LIFE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

 

JFCS works year round to help vulnerable people in the Portland area achieve well-being, health, and stability. During the year-end holiday season, however, we go the extra mile—not only to celebrate the season, but also to help people who are facing adversity feel more connected to their community.

Once again, JFCS will join the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland and other community groups to brighten the holiday season for needy individuals, families, Holocaust survivors, and other older adults through two campaigns: the Thanksgiving Food Box Drive and the Mitzvah Menorah/Adopt-a-Family program.

 

  • On November 19, volunteers will assemble and deliver food boxes to 135 households, enabling more than 500 people to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast, complete with turkey and all the trimmings.

 

  • Through Adopt-a-Family, we’ll make the Hanukkah and Christmas holidays more joyous for 60 individuals or families by providing gift cards that enable them to fulfill their holiday requests — typically household items, clothing, and toys for children.

 

PLEASE JOIN US! YOU CAN:

  • Donate cash to purchase a specific food item — for example, onions ($70) or turkeys ($2,000) — that will go into each of the 135 food boxes. (There are options at many different price levels.)
  • Provide cash or food donations. For example, $60 will pay for a complete food box for one household.
  • Volunteer on Nov 19 to assemble and deliver the Thanksgiving Boxes.
  • Adopt a family and provide gifts to those who would not otherwise go without.
  • By December 10, organize donations for the Mitzvah Menorah/Adopt-a-Family campaign.
