Emergency Aid Coordinator

In her position at JFCS Maria helps families and individuals that are experiencing financial hardships and other personal challenges to problem solve and identify resources within the community that may be able to help and support them through the crisis and/or life transitions. Maria coordinates and manages all emergency aid requests, the Emergency Aid Holiday Campaigns (Thanksgiving and Mitzvah Menorah Adopt-A-Family), and the Holocaust Survivor’s Emergency Aid program. Maria is a Qualified Mental Health Associate, Case Manager and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Roger Williams University. Maria has spent about 18 years dedicated to the Social Services as a social worker and case manager.  Before joining Jewish Family & Child Service in 2007, she worked for a diverse range of organizations, including Hawaii’s Department of Human Services in both the Adult and Child Welfare Divisions, Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Office as a Victim Witness Advocate and Catholic Charities as Domestic Violence Outreach Counselor.  Maria’s two greatest passions are making a difference in the lives of others through, educating, advocating and empowering, and her family.
