In partnership with Portland Police Bureau’s Sunshine Division, JFCS has launched a new kosher food program. This is a quarterly program to provide a reusable grocery bag full of kosher certified food to the approximately 100 Holocaust survivors residing in the Portland metro area. Kosher food is expensive and not available at all grocery stores, making it inaccessible for survivors who are low-income &/or have mobility issues. The program relies on volunteers to deliver the food to the homes of the survivors. Delivery days are a coordinated effort between Sunshine Division, JFCS, and our volunteers.
If you’d like to find out more about volunteering, please contact the JFCS Volunteer Coordinator, Tavia Berrigan at 503.226.7079 ext.134, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
